Sticky Keys Free Trial for macOS
=========================================

What this is
------------

This is the native macOS free-trial build of Sticky Keys. It lets you try the real-time harmonic feedback experience without a purchase token.

Install
-------

1. Move "Sticky Keys Free.app" to Applications.
2. Open it from Applications.
3. Connect your MIDI keyboard by USB or MIDI before launching, or quit and reopen after connecting it.

Gatekeeper
----------

Production Mac downloads must be Developer ID signed, notarized, and stapled. If macOS says the app cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified, this is not the production-ready package. Contact support or wait for the signed Mac download instead of bypassing Gatekeeper.

Where your trial data lives
---------------------------

Sticky Keys stores Mac data here:

    ~/Library/Application Support/Kafka Kaleidoscope/

That folder may contain trial state, logs, imported MIDI files, students, achievements, and teaching/practice data.

MIDI files
----------

You can open MIDI files from anywhere with the upload button. If you want a stable place for imports, use:

    ~/Library/Application Support/Kafka Kaleidoscope/MIDI/Imports/

Support
-------

If the app cannot see your MIDI keyboard, connect the keyboard before launch and reopen the app.

If the app crashes, macOS usually writes a report in:

    ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/

Send the crash report and the Logs folder from Application Support to support.

The app is now called Sticky Keys everywhere you see it — the bundle, the Dock, the menu bar.
The Application Support folder still carries the old name, Kafka Kaleidoscope, and that is
deliberate: renaming it would orphan the practice history of everyone who already uses it, so
it stays until there is a migration worth doing. If you are upgrading, delete the old
"Kafka Kaleidoscope.app" after installing this one. Your progress is not stored inside the app
and is not affected.
